LIV Golf LIVE: Leaderboards and Scores Day 3 as Dustin Johnson chases Carlos Ortiz

Carlos Ortiz leads Dustin Johnson by one shot after first round at LIV Portland

Watch all the action as Dustin Johnson and Carlos Ortiz split the lead into the final round of the second LIV Golf event.

Johnson hit eight birdies in round 68 at Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club in Portland, Oregon yesterday as the former world No. Ortiz, one of the latest recruits to the Saudi-backed separatists, fired a 69-shot to ensure that he joins Johnson at the top of the standings by a margin of less than eight. Their closest challenger was Branden Grace, who came back twice. South African teammate Justin Harding started a shot further five behind, while Brooks Koepka and Patrick Reed remained inside with a chance outside as they started four shots from the lead.

One person certainly unwilling to accuse is Phil Mickelson, who endured another harsh week following his scandalous performance at the US Open. The 52-year-old is past six points but will be back in action as LIV Golf events have no cutbacks. In the team event, the 4 Aces GC, captained by Johnson, led -15. The all-South African Stingers GC, which won at Club Centurion last month, started in second place. Follow all the actions below:

There is the first crack in Ortiz’s armor. He made a short putt to save par in the 7th minute and slid to -10. Johnson almost had an identical putt for the birdie, knew the way, and confidently toss it in the middle of the hole. Ortiz still had a three shot lead but there were signs of stress from the Mexican and it was a big change of momentum.

Few have seen Matthew Wolff’s decline come after such an exciting start to his PGA Tour career, with a top five finish at the US Open and PGA Championship in 2020. He’s dropped nearly 50 places above. world rankings but had a great serve on the 9th serve as a reminder of his talent. It was an opportunity to help the 23-year-old become successful. He is now at -3.
