A mother, four young children and one of the children’s friends were among seven people killed in a horrific road accident in Illinois over the weekend. according to a report.
The family’s Chevrolet van – carrying Lauren Dobosz, 31, her four children, her husband and one of the children’s friends – was hit head-on by an Acura TSX going the wrong way in rural Riley , a suburb of Chicago around 2 a.m. Sunday, according to Chicago Daylight.
The collision caused both vehicles to catch fire, killing Dobosz and the five children.
Acura’s sole occupant, 22-year-old Jennifer Fernandez, was also killed.
Dobosz’s husband was taken to hospital, where he remains in critical condition.
The mother was a cheerleader for a youth soccer team in Chicago’s northwest, according to the magazine.
A broken group fundraising effort raised more than $12,000 for family members Monday afternoon.
“Lauren always makes a great impression on everyone she meets, she is full of life, laughter and always a good time,” the appeal reads. “We will miss you Lauren and your sweet, sassy, nimble kids and all of your dearest friends.”
The deceased Dobosz children from Rolling Meadows are a 5-year-old girl, a 6-year-old boy, a 7-year-old boy and a 13-year-old girl, according to ABC7 Chicago. The other killed child was a 13-year-old girl and a friend of the oldest child Dobosz.
The investigation into the crash is continuing.
