Monster Hunter: Rise Sunbreak bought over 2 million copies worldwide in its first week of launch

The Monster Hunter franchise has evolved from strength to strength since its inception in 2004. A game in which players track alone or in groups to hunt giant monsters across regions. Beautiful nature has captivated the action RPG audience with each new iteration. The most significant success came with the release of Monster Hunter: World in 2018, with revenue growth even four years after its release. If we include the base game and the Iceborne expansion, this entry into the franchise has already hit a record 21 million copies shipped.

Following the success of World, in March 2021, Capcom released a sequel to the story, titled Monster Hunter: Rise. New game has sold more than 10 million units worldwide across all its platforms, including PC version released from start.

After another successful release, Capcom has announced that the new expansion for Monster Hunter: Rise, called Sunbreak, has shipped 2 million copies worldwide. Sunbreak is a full-featured expansion with many new additions, including quests, languages, monsters, new quest ranks, unprecedented hunting action, and a story chapter.

Capcom has noted that Sunbreak is not an endpoint but a major milestone for the franchise. The aim is to continue to support Monster Hunter Rise with the release of more free content while also looking to drive sales through ongoing promotions and competitive pricing strategies.

With just a few weeks to go, Sunbreak has brought success to Capcom and the Monster Hunter franchise. The expansion could surpass the sales of Monster Hunter: World and the Iceborne DLC.
