Much of this technology has long since been dropped by Sony, with the most modern of which being the PlayStation Move wand, still used to control the first iteration of PlayStation VR.

What makes the patent even more interesting is that the peripherals mostly date back to the PS3 era, which could indicate that this is part of Sony. reported attempts to simulate the systemwas downgraded to streaming-only as part of Sony’s recent PlayStation Plus rebrand.

While it is conceivable that Sony is exploring how to make this older technology work through emulation, given that no device, other than the PS Move Wands, is currently available for purchase, it could simply be simply a process to simulate the functionality of these items in software, rather than compatibility with PlayStation 5.
