Part 4 of Strange things large in terms of size, scale, budget, and length of episodes. With season five being the last before the show ends, fans are curious how that will shape up. Creators and Presenters Ross and Matt Duffer spoke to Mixed happiness and sadness Podcast to explain that most episodes won’t be as long as last season.
“The only reason we didn’t expect it to be this long, this season, if you look at it, it was almost a two-hour stretch before our kids really got caught up in a mystery. Supernatural. You get to know them, you see them in their lives, they’re struggling with adjusting to high school, etc., Steve is trying to find a date, all that. None of that is obviously going to happen [in season 5]. However, treat the end of the long series as a feature film. “We’re more likely to do what we’ve done here, which is only a 2.5-hour episode.”
One thing fans can expect is that the characters will pick up where they left off, ready to hit the ground running. “The characters are ready for action, they’ve got their goals and motivations, and I think that will fix at least a couple of hours and make this season feel really different,” continued Duffer. “I’m sure the ending will be a lot longer, it will be ‘Return of the King’ with, like, eight endings.”
