Trump endorses “ERIC” in Missouri GOP Senate major vote. There’s a couple of Eric within the race

Former President Donald Trump before the Missouri primaries gave his coveted endorsement in Republican Primary for Missouri’s open Senate seat, but there was some confusion as to who was chosen.

“I trust the Greats of Missouri, on this, to decide for themselves, just as they did when they gave me resounding victories in the 2016 and 2020 Elections, and thus I’m proud to announce that ERIC has Full and Full Endorsements!” Trump wrote in a statement Monday night.

And with that, Trump has apparently turned down anyone in the 19-person field who isn’t named Eric. There are two leading candidates sharing the first name: Attorney General Eric Schmitt and former Attorney General Eric Greitensand a candidate follows them.

The sell-off comes as Schmitt has been ahead in recent polls, including an Emerson University poll released in late July, where he led Rep. Vicky Hartzler 12 the point. Greitens came in third in that poll.

Greitens, a controversial candidate who resigned in 2018 after a sex scandal and abuse of campaign funds, has fallen in the polls since June after more than $11 million. la has been paid for by outside groups to prevent him from winning the primaries and potentially carrying the status into the November general election.

Earlier this year, Greitens’ ex-wife also claimed he abused her and their son, allegations which the Greitens campaign has denied. Sheena Greitens repeat accusations on Twitter in Monday.

Immediately after Trump’s announcement, both Greitens and Schmitt claimed to have Trump’s full support.

“President Trump looked at the candidates and all that was at stake in this race, and he gave me his TERMS OF COMPLETION AND SUMMARY!” read a campaign fundraising email from Schmitt.

“Glad to have President Trump’s endorsement! We’ll MAGA!” Greitens tweeted. Greitens also had an affair with Donald Trump Jr. and Kimberly Guilfoyle, and he tweeted a video of Guilfoyle supported him.

To make matters more complicated, there’s a third Eric in the race: Eric McElroy. In a statement, Hartzler said “Congratulations to Eric McElroy. He’s having a great night.”

Trump said in July that he would clearly disapprove of Hartzler.
