A former House aide says former President Donald Trump will likely soon announce his run for president in 2024, despite the growing criticism he is facing during hearings. January 6th.
“Well, we all know from past experience that Donald Trump doesn’t care about anyone other than Donald Trump,” Kurt Bardellaa former GOP senior adviser to the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee turned to criticize Trump, tell MSNBC on Saturday.
“So I’m not surprised that in the face of criticism that is growing right now, after the January 6 hearing, he’s thinking of pulling the trigger now,” he added.
Bardella, who is now a Democrat, said he welcomed the idea of Trump announcing his candidacy for president, implying that it could “ruin the Republican party before November”.
Bardella’s comment comes in the middle Speculation that Trump is considering declaring an early run in 2024 in an attempt to stem the tide of criticism against him after damn testimony from witnesses called by the committee investigating the riots in the Capitol on January 6.
However, some Republicans worry that a Early announcement from Trump could hurt Republicans in the upcoming midterm elections. Sources close to Trump say CBS that no final decision has been made on whether he will run, or when it will be announced.
There has also been speculation that Trump may face obstruction of justice charges after Rep. Liz Cheney, the committee’s GOP vice chair on January 6, present evidence that the Trump camp may have engaged in witness tampering.
Bardella said that would feature Trump not considering how his actions might affect his party.
“At the end of the day, he’ll do whatever he wants. He’s shown time and time again that this guy has the impulse control of a creepy toddler.” he said, adding that Trump is the “goblin” that the GOP created.
Bardella added that, behind the scenes, Republicans who want to “split with Donald Trump” are likely “to take root with the January 6 committee.”
“These guys have been wanting a divorce from Donald Trump for the past five years,” he said. “They just lack the guts, the ability and the guts to actually do it.”
